See inside the Purple Martin Colony at Greenwich Point!

Saturday, June 4

10am – 11am

Clam Bake area

Join Sarah Coccaro of the Greenwich Conservation Commission to learn about the Purple Martins that nest at Greenwich Point. Purple Martins are a native songbird in the Swallow family. They have long been one of America’s favorite birds, loved for their graceful flight, social practices and insect-eating habits. From March through to September, Conservation staff and volunteers monitor the colony at Greenwich Point, and we invite you to join us! We will lower down the gourds (nesting cavities) to look inside and see if there are eggs or chicks!
